Polstiernan Industri operates through its subsidiaries Pallco and R-man as
sub-contractor and supplier of systems in steel, aluminium and copper. Its
aim is to meet customers’ tough requirements for solutions that are rational,
cost-effective, high-quality and technologically advanced.
Pallco takes on complete orders from its customers. This can mean
anything from purchasing raw materials and components via manufacturing
and assembly to storage and deliveries, all depending on the customer’s
needs. R-man specializes in bent tubing combined with welding in various
types of materials and dimensions. Both companies have further strengthened
their positions on the Nordic market during the year.
Market
The year has been marked by adaptations to the outside world. At the beginning
of the year the order stock was very good, which entailed a high
capacity utilization rate for Polstiernan. As the financial crisis became more
evident measures were taken in the organization around the time of summer
holidays. During the last quarter the financial crisis quickly turned into
an economic recession. The companies in the group have adapted to the
new situation which brought steep decline in certain segments and continued
positive trends in others.
Polstiernan is a sub-contractor and supplier that sells its own expertise
and lacks products of its own. The company focuses on marketing with a
view to establishing long-term relations with successful customers in diverse
segments.
Future prospects
2008 was another good year for Polstiernan, with increased sales and
improved result. The drastic recession in the world market at the end of the
year will bring about lower volumes in 2009. The total market will shrink
and, being weaker, will have to restructure itself.
Polstiernan is well equipped to further strengthen its position in the
market through organic growth and, possibly, acquisition of new companies. |
